U of M Cheerleader of the Month (September) | Jeremy Harrison What made you want to cheer at the University of Minnesota? I went to try-outs because it’s not everyday an opportunity to be a college athlete comes. So, I went for it. What is your favorite part about cheering for the Gophers? Nationals because the atmosphere is just so much fun and encouraging. Knowing that everyone is there to compete against each other but at the same time is behind everyone on and off the mat. Who is your favorite Gopher athlete? Shari Eckstrom, she is on the Gopher women’s soccer team and my best friend's sister. What is your favorite cheerleading memory? The men’s basketball big ten tournament with the last second shot sending the gophers to the semifinals. What cheer accomplishment are you most proud of? Getting 8th at nationals to accomplish our goal set at the beginning of the year. What non-cheer accomplishment are you most proud of? Getting the highest degree earned in the FFA my sophomore year. That degree is called the American FFA degree. What do you like to do when you aren’t cheering on the Gophers? Just relaxing and watching a movie with my friends. Do you have any tips for high school cheerleaders who want to continue on in college? College cheerleading is a whole new level and being at a new level working harder is needed with determination and motivation. |
