Minnesota Heads to Indiana Open
The Minnesota men’s cross country team will run its second meet of the season on Saturday, Sept. 9, competing in the Indiana Open in Bloomington, Ind. The 8-kilometer race begins at 10 a.m.

A Sneak Preview
One plus to the Indiana Open is that the Golden Gophers will have the chance to run on the same course that will host the Big Ten Championships in late October.

Some Solid Competition
The Indiana Open field consists of Butler, Huntington, Indiana, Minnesota and Purdue. Both Butler and Indiana joined Minnesota in last year’s NCAA Championships field.

Low-Key Meet Opens Season
Minnesota opened the 2006 season by running in the St. Thomas Early Bird Meet, a low-key three-mile version of a time trial. Senior All-American Antonio Vega won the event with a time of 15:18. Ben Puhl and Matt Barrett were clocked with the same time but here edged at the line to finish second and third.
