Narzisi Leads Gophers During Day One at Lady Paladin Invitational

Freshman Mary Narzisi fired a 4-over par 76 and the Minnesota women’s golf team combined to card an opening-round score of 316 (+28) to finish the first day of the Lady Paladin Invitational in 15th place at the Furman University Golf Course in Greenville, S.C.
The Gophers sit 17 strokes off the pace heading into Saturday’s second round. East Tennessee State leads the tournament through 18 holes after firing a combined team total of 299 (+11). TCU (300) finished the day in second place followed by NC-Greensboro (307) in third. Just seven strokes separate the No. 4-15 positions in the field.
Carmen Perez-Narbon of North Carolina-Wilmington was one of two competitors to shoot below par during the first round and sits atop the leader board at 2-under par 70.
Narzisi, who is tied for 16th, was the only Gopher to close out the opening round in the top 20. Freshman Samantha Sommers is tied for 31st at 6-over 78, while junior Paige Broman is tied for 54th at 8-over 80. Sophomore Christine Herzog posted the final counting score for Minnesota with an 82.
Saturday’s second round of the Lady Paladin Invitation tees off at 7:30 a.m. (CDT).
