Gophers Climb Two Spots at Lady Paladin Invitational Saturday

Sophomore Christine Herzog fired a 75 and freshman Mary Narzisi and junior Young Na Lee each chipped in with 79s as the Minnesota women’s golf team carded a combined score of 313 during the second round of the Lady Paladin Invitational at the Furman University Golf Course Saturday.
The Gophers’ second-day team score was a three-stroke improvement over Friday’s opening round and moved Minnesota up two spots in the team standings to 13th at 629 through 36 holes.
TCU shot a combined 297 to take hold of first place in the team standings with a 36-hole total of 597. The Horned Frogs lead East Tennessee State (604) by seven strokes and third place Augusta State (613) by 16 heading into Sunday’s third and final round.
Narzisi is tied for 29th with a two-round total of 155 and is the only Gopher currently in the top 30. Herzog’s second round 75 helped the sophomore climb a whopping 26 spot on the leader board. She is tied for 39th at 157.
East Tennessee State’s Laura Jansone is the individual leader heading into Sunday’s final round at even-par 144.
