Gophers Finish in 13th at Lady Paladin Invitational

The Minnesota women’s golf team combined to shoot its best round of the three-day Lady Paladin Invitational Sunday but was unable to gain any ground in the final standings as the Golden Gophers settled for a 13th-place finish.
Junior Young Na Lee carded a 73 and freshman Samantha Sommers finished up with a 74 as Minnesota shaved six strokes off its second round score to post a team total of 307 during the third and final round for a 54-hole score of 936.
TCU, which had four players finish in the top 20, captured the team title with a final score of 896, followed by Notre Dame (910) and East Tennessee State (912).
North Carolina-Wilimington’s Carmen Perez-Narbon carded a final-round 69 to win individual medalist honors with a three-round score of 217.
Sommers was the Gophers’ highest finisher with a 54-hole total of 232 to tie for 23rd. Fellow freshman Mary Narzisi also placed in the top 30 and finished just one stroke back of Sommers in a tie for 29th at 233, while Na Lee tied for 56, sophomore Christine Herzog tied for 68th and junior Paige Broman tied for 83rd.
