When/where did you first start cheering? 7th grade (2001) on Dakota Spirit All-Stars
What made you want to cheer at the University of Minnesota? Ever since I started cheerleading, I had seen the University of Minnesota perform or compete at various competitions, and after the first time I saw the Gopher cheerleaders way back in middle school, I was hooked! Watching all of that talent on one mat had me mesmerized, and I knew then that I wanted to be a part of this amazing program.
What is your favorite part about cheering for the Gophers? My favorite part about cheering for the Gophers is the atmosphere; no matter if we are at the Metrodome, the Barnyard, or anywhere in between, the fans are always passionate and supportive! It is great to know that I am able to represent the University of Minnesota while participating in an activity that I love!
What is your favorite cheerleading memory? My favorite cheerleading memories are UCA camp and our spirit squad retreat; both of these events were great bonding experiences not only within the All-Girl team, but the entire program as a whole!
What cheer accomplishment are you most proud of?I am most proud of winning the Leadership Award at UCA camp two years in a row. This prestigious award was voted on by our peers at camp, and it was a great honor to the All-Girl team to have won it!
What do you like to do when you aren’t cheering on the Gophers? When I am not cheering, studying, or sleeping, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, shopping, and watching movies.
Do you have any tips for high school cheerleaders who want to continue on in college? Contact the coaches as early as possible; make your name and face known to them early on, and be persistent in pursuing your interests of cheering in college!
