When/where did you first start cheering? I first started cheerleading at Northern Elite All Stars where I began on the Junior All Stars Team.
What made you want to cheer at the University of Minnesota?Throughout high school I was consistently inspired by the University of Minnesota Cheer Team. I looked up to their teamwork, camaraderie, sportsmanship, talent, and leadership they put forth in all they accomplished. I strived to work hard and persevere in being capable of representing all of their attributes within my own high school team and as an individual. In learning the importance these qualities meant to me, I wished for the opportunity of being part of such an excellent program myself.
What is your favorite part about cheering for the Gophers? My favorite part about cheering for the Gophers is everything! The close bond in which I hold with my team, the excitement of cheering on gopher athletics, preparing and representing the University of Minnesota at the collegiate national level, and every experience the program has given me are all parts about cheering for the Gophers in which I treasure.
Who is your favorite Gopher athlete? My favorite gopher athlete is Woman’s Basketball player, Emily Fox. I believe she is an extremely talented individual who is a leader on and off the court for her team and community.
What is your favorite cheerleading memory? My favorite cheerleading memory from this year is nationals. Being part of the first All Girl Cheer Team from the University of Minnesota to compete at UCA Nationals was an amazing experience. Knowing the hard work and goals we had accomplished as a team was rewarding as we represented our school in Florida.
What cheer accomplishment are you most proud of?The cheer accomplishment I am most proud of is the overall achievement we have made as a team. The dedication, hard work, time commitment, energy, and goals we have accomplished together over the course of the season are all things I take pride in.
What non-cheer accomplishment are you most proud of?A non-cheer accomplishment in which I am most proud of has been all of the dedication I have put forth within my schoolwork and towards my future career so far in attending the University of Minnesota.
What do you like to do when you aren’t cheering on the Gophers? Outside of cheerleading for the Gophers, I enjoy shopping, reading, watching movies and enjoying time with my friends and family.
Do you have any tips for high school cheerleaders who want to continue on in college? If you want to cheer in college, go for it! Work hard and try out at the school you wish to attend, you will never regret it. Cheerleading in college is such an amazing learning and growing experience, and so much fun too!
