The Minnesota women’s golf program has signed two players to national letters of intent during the early signing period according to director of golf Brad James
Jordan Woods, a native of Brownsburg, Ind., and Chelsey Falk of Glenwood, Minn., are the latest additions to the Gopher women’s golf program and will join the team as freshmen for the 2008-09 campaign.
“Jordan and Chelsey possess strong, competitive resumes as junior golfers and I expect both of them to be quality additions to our program,” James said. “Each player has strengths that are unique to their respective games, but the one thing they have in common is that they are both winners.”
A four-time all-conference performer at Brownsburg High School, Woods posted two wins and two runner-up finishes at the conference tournament during her prep career.
As a junior, the 2006 Hendricks County Fall Sports Female Athlete of the Year was also the runner-up at the Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) Girls Championship with a final scored of 2-over par 146.
This year, Woods shot a low-round of 70 to capture medalist honors at the 2007 Hall of Fame tournament and carded a low round of 68 during the season.
Falk helped lead the Minnewaska Area High School girls golf team to back-to-back state titles as a prep and is regarded as one of Minnesota’s top junior golfers.
A two time All-West Central Conference performer, Falk placed second at the section championship with a low round of 73 and 11th at the 2007 Girls State Class A Championship.
