Erik Rasmussen enters his third year as the athletic trainer for the Golden Gophers Men's Hockey team.

Prior to coming to Minnesota, he spent nine seasons with the athletic training staff at the University of Denver, working with the Pioneers' men's hockey and golf teams. For six seasons at DU, Rasmussen served as director of sports medicine and was responsible for the overall operations of sports medicine, strength and conditioning and the equipment room. He also served as the athletic trainer for the WCHA's All-Star trip to Norway during the summer of 2000. Before coming to Denver, Rasmussen worked as a student assistant at Iowa from 1993-96. While at Iowa, Rasmussen gained experience working with the majority of the Hawkeyes' athletic programs. A certified athletic trainer with the National Athletic Trainers Association, Rasmussen graduated in 1996 from Iowa with a bachelor's degree, with honors, in exercise science. He earned his master's degree in sports management from Denver in the spring of 2000.

Rasmussen and his wife, Heather, daughter, Megan (5), and son, Gabe (4), reside in Woodbury.
