Former Gopher Maggie Souba Featured in Star Tribune

Former University of Minnesota women's hockey player Maggie Souba (2003-2007) is currently playing hockey in Russia. She is featured in Sunday's Minneapolis Star Tribune about her experience.

Souba finished her Minnesota career last year playing in 136 games for the Maroon and Gold. The Moorhead, Minn., native switched from forward to defense in her final year and played in every game as a defenseman. Souba was a member of the Gophers' 2004 and 2005 national championship teams. She earned the 2005 Ridder Award, which is given to the Gopher that does the most within the community. She was also a two-time WCHA Scholar Athlete, which is awarded to players with a 3.50 or higher grade point average.
