The Western Collegiate Hockey Association has announced that Minnesota junior forward Gigi Marvin has been named the Offensive Player of the Week for her performance last weekend against Bemidji State. It is Marvin's first honor this year and the sixth time a Gopher women's hockey player has received a WCHA weekly accolade this season.

Marvin scored four points in last Friday's game to help the Gophers to a 5-0 win over BSU. With her fourth point on the night, Marvin reached her 100th career point of her career. In 91 games played, Marvin has 40 goals and 60 assists for 100 points. Marvin set up Erica McKenzie on the Gophers' game-winning power-play goal. She followed by scoring a power-play goal of her own at 5:47 in the second and had a hand in the Gophers' final two goals of the evening. Her two goals on the night came on just five shots and also held a plus/minus rating of +2. She beat out North Dakota's Melissa Jaques and Minnesota State's Maggie Fisher for the honor.

Marvin and the rest of the Golden Gophers close out the 2007 calendar year as they visit Minnesota State University, Mankato, this weekend. Friday's game is set for a 7 p.m. start, followed by a 3 p.m. tilt on Saturday. Following the MSU series, the Gophers are idle until Jan. 5-6 when they travel to Wayne State.
