The University of Minnesota men's gymnastics team kept their hot streak alive on Sunday as they improved to 3-0 in dual meets in 2007 with a 206.000-201.500 victory over Iowa, today, in Iowa City.
The Gophers received another strong performance from freshman Andre Berry, as he won his second consecutive all-around championhsip with a mark of 49.15. Cole Storer also helped the Gophers cause as he won the vault with a score of 9.05. Aaron Fortunato would win the high bar with a score of 8.95 and Kit Beikmann tied for first on the pommel horse with a mark of 8.350. Kyle True would win parallel bars with an 8.70 to give the Gophers four individual champions along with Berry's all-around championship.
Gopher head coach Mike Burns was ecstatic about the performance.
"We had a lot of guys step up today considering the fact that we held Jake Lee out of every event except pommel horse," said Burns. "Our guys could have gotten down, but they stepped up and showed character, performing well. There are some things we can still clean up, but overall I am happy. We built an early lead and then put the nail in the coffin.'
