Gophers Finish Ninth at Rio Verde Invitational

The University of Minnesota women's golf team finished in a tie for ninth place at the Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational in Scottsdale, Arizona. The Gophers fired a final round 311 and finished 34 shots behind tournament champion Baylor.
Individually, sophomore Sydney Liles finished 12th at 8-over 224 after a final round 76. Freshman Leslie Grabeman shot an 80 on Sunday, but still tied for 21st at 12-over 228. Junior Kelli Berns fired the best round of the day for the Gophers with a 74 and she moved up into a tie for 55th at 19-over 235. Freshman Christine Herzog finished in a tie for 83rd at 27-over 243. Senior Samantha Braschler finished 92nd at 31-over 247 and sophomore Young Na Lee tied for 93rd at 33-over 249.
Minnesota is back in action March 16-18 at the Betsy Rawls Invitational in Austin, Texas.
