Gopher Softball Sweeps Indiana in Sunday Doubleheader

Senior Rene Konderik threw a terrific game in the circle to get the win for
Lisa Parks went 2-for-4 with two RBI while Megan Higginbotham went 1-for-2 with two runs scored in the game.
The Gophers got a run back in the bottom of the first with Parks' first RBI of the game. Higginbotham drew a leadoff walk and then advanced to second when Mandy Valadez also reached on a base on balls. Parks then hit a bloop single that dropped just out of the reach of Hoosier left fielder Julia Hamilton to make the score 2-1.
The Hoosiers pushed their lead back to two runs in the top of the second when Heather Hohs hit a double to the gap in left center to score Bergeson who reached on a walk. After a single by Sarah Padove gave IU runners on the corners with one out, Konderik entered the game and retired the next two batters to get out of the inning.
Neither team was able to put a run on the board through the next four innings before Richards took the first pitch she saw from Konderik over the right field wall to give Indiana the lead in the eighth inning.
Katie Dalen went the distance in the second game, striking out seven while allowing one run on just four hits to even her record at 4-4 on the year. The first five outs Dalen recorded were all courtesy of strikes and she maintained her command throughout the game.
