Gopher Softball Doubleheader Against Illinois Cancelled

Due to unplayable field conditions, Minnesota's softball doubleheader against Illinois has been cancelled. The game time had initially been pushed back to 1 p.m. (CST), but after meeting with officials and grounds crew personnel, both teams' coaches decided the field was not fit to play. The games will not be rescheduled.

The Gophers have now had their last six games cancelled - in addition to this weekend's games against Iowa and Illinois, last week's doubleheader at Penn State was called due to weather.

After a midweek doubleheader Wisconsin-Green Bay on Wednesday, Minnesota will host its home opener at Jane Sage Cowles Stadium next Friday against Purdue at 6 p.m.
