Josh Oslin Signs With Kansas City Royals Organization

Josh Oslin was signed by the Kansas City Royals Organization to become the third Golden Gopher senior to be drafted or signed by a Major League Organization this year. Oslin joins Dan Lyons, who was drafted by the Washington Nationals in the 14th round, and Mike Mee, who was drafted the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 16th round.
Oslin finished the season 1-2 with a school-record 11 saves, and a 2.53 ERA in 21 appearances. He limited opponents to a .200 batting average in 21.1 innings, and struck out 18 batters on the season. Oslin’s 11 saves were also tied for the conference lead in the Big Ten.
In his final outing as a Golden Gopher, Oslin pitched 1.2 shutout innings against No. 4 San Diego to pick up the win in relief. It was the first win in NCAA Tournament play by a Minnesota pitcher since 2003.
Oslin was also named Second-Team All-Big Ten as a reliever this past season. In conference play, he was 0-1 with six saves and a 1.29 ERA. Oslin finished tied for third in the conference with his six saves in Big Ten play.
For his career, Oslin tallied 12 saves overall. That total tied him for second on the Minnesota career list with Doug Kampsen (1982-84) and Brad Kearin (1993-96).
