Bronson La'Cassie finishes second in pro debut

Former University of Minnesota golf All-American Bronson La'Cassie finished second in the professional debut at the NGA Hooters Tour Buffalo Run Casino Classic in Miami, OK. La'Cassie fired a 23-under-par total of 265 tying fellow Australian Andrew Tschudin, one shot shy of tournament winner Jordan Dempsey. La'Cassie earned more than $13,000 in his first pro tournament. La'Cassie is now 52nd on the Hooters Tour money list. Former Gopher Justin Smith is 16th on the Hooters Tour money list having earned more than $35,000.
This past year, La'Cassie earned his fourth All-America citation becoming the first Minnesota golfer to receive All-America honors in all four of his collegiate seasons. . He was an honorable mention selection in 2004 and 2006, and was a third team selection in 2005. Tom Lehman (1979, ’80, ’81) and Justin Smith (2002, ’03, ’04) are the only other Gophers to be awarded All-America honors in three seasons.
La’Cassie finished tied for tied for 22nd at NCAAs after leading the tournament after 36 holes. Earlier this season, La’Cassie was named first team All-Big Ten for the fourth consecutive season. His season stroke average of 72.71 is the eighth best in Gopher history and his career average of 72.48 ranks second on the Minnesota career scoring average list. La’Cassie owns four of the top 10 season stroke averages in Gopher golf history.
