Gophers To Participate In 19th Annual PING/Golfweek Preview

The University of Minnesota men's golf team will take part in the 19th annual PING/Golfweek Preview on Sept. 21-23 at the Kampen Course at Purdue's Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex in West Lafayette, Ind. Its the second year in a row the Gophers have been invited to the prestigous fall event. Teams earn spots into the tournament with a top-15 finish in the previous season's NCAA Championships. The Gophers tied for ninth in last season's NCAAs.

NCAA champion Stanford and Georgia, the No. 1 team in the final Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings, head the field for the 2007 Golfweek/Ping Preview. Also earning invitations into the 15-team Preview field are the next eight schools in the final rankings Lamar, Alabama, Oklahoma State, Florida, USC, UCLA, Georgia Tech and UNLV. Charlotte (T-3 at NCAAs) and Coastal Carolina (fifth) will make their inaugural Preview appearances. Rounding out the field are Clemson and host team Purdue.

Minnesota begins its fall season hosting the Gopher Invitational at Spring Hill Golf Club in Wayzata, Minn., on Sept. 15-16.
