Gophers in Seventh After Day One of Badger Invitational

The University of Minnesota women's golf team is in seventh place after 36 holes of the Badger Invitational in Madison, Wis. The Golden Gophers fired a first day 627 and trail tournament leader Oklahoma by 33 shots going into tomorrow's final round at the par 72, 6,204-yard University Ridge Golf Course.

The Gophers were led by sophomore Christine Herzog who carded a 8-over 152 after rounds of 78 and 74 Sunday. Herzog is tied for 13th, five shots behind individual leader Kendra Hanson of Iowa State. Freshman Samantha Somers fired a 155 in the first two rounds and is 26th at 11-over-par. Junior Sydney Liles shot a second round 77 and is tied for 29th at 13-over 157. Junior Paige Broman is tied for 47th at 19-over 163 and freshman Michele Edlin is tied for 58th at 23-over 167.
