Kathleen Ridder
Class of 1990
Benefactor

Kathleen C. Ridder has made extraordinary contributions to the University of Minnesota Women's Athletics Department, both financially and through time spent as a volunteer. Ridder demonstrated her devotion to women's athletics at the U of M by establishing the Kathleen C. Ridder scholarship in 1983, which is given annually to a student-athlete who is working toward a degree in medicine, science, health science or math. Ridder has chaired several women's athletic department committees as well, including the Advisory Council and the women's athletic scholarship endowment of the Minnesota Campaign. Ridder has also served on several University boards and has had numerous other non-profit affiliations as an active volunteer in the community. Her legacy today shines brightly on campus thanks to her and her late husband, Robert's, generous financial contribution which helped to construct Ridder Arena in 2002. The state-of-the-art facility, which houses the Gopher women's hockey team, is the first and without question the finest women's-only hockey facility in the nation.
