The Big Ten Conference has announced that University of Minnesota freestyler Stacy Busack has been named the league's Big Ten Swimmer of the Week for her performance against Michigan and MichiganState last weekend.
Busack helped the Gophers to two Big Ten dual victories against Michigan (Oct. 10) and Michigan State (Oct. 11). Versus the Wolverines, Busack earned two individual firsts in the 50- and the 100-yard freestyles, touching the wall in 23.63 and 50.61, respectively. Her 100 free time was good for an NCAA B' qualifying standard. The senior also swam a leg of the winning 400 medley relay which clocked a time of 3:45.03. In East Lansing against MSU, Busack and three of her Gopher teammates set a new pool record in the 200 medley relay, posting a winning time of 1:43.03. The Fergus Falls, Minn., native takes home her first weekly honor.
Busack and the rest of the Gophers are idle this week and resume action Oct. 31-Nov. 1 when they travel to North Carolina. The meet begins at 6 p.m. on Friday and again at noon on Saturday.
