Gopher Women in 16th at Vegas Showdown

The University of Minnesota women's golf team shot a combined team score of 304 in the second round of the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown and currently sits in 16th place. The Gophers are within three shots of 15th place Brigham Young while six shots separate them from the 14th place Colorado State Rams.
Gopher senior Paige Bromen is in position to secure her first top 20 finish of the season. She opened with a 2-under par round of 70, shot 75 today and sits in a 10-way tie for 29th. Bromen is within six shots of 21 golfers and a top-10 finish. Minnesota was led on day two by freshman Teresa Puga. She shot a 2-over par 74 to go with an opening round 73 and is in a tie for 46th place. Sophomores Michele Edlin, Mary Narzisi and Samantha Sommers are in a tie for 63rd, 71st and 89th place, respectively.
Louisville and Pepperdine started the day in a tie for first place but the Wave fired a combined team score of 18-under par 270 and hold a 12-shot lead over the Cardinals. Oklahoma State and Washington are tied for third at 9-under par while the host UNLV Rebels are in fifth at 5-under par. Individually, Lisa McCloskey of Pepperdine used a 7-under par round of 65 to take the lead and sits at 12-under par for the tournament. Anya Alvarez of Washington and UNLV's Therese Koelbaek are tied for second at 10-under par.
