Gopher Women's Cross Country Wins Blugold Open

Minnesota placed six runners in the top 10 as the Golden Gopher women’s cross country team compiled 24 points and captured the title in the UW-Eau Claire Blugold Open on Friday, in Colfax, Wis. Senior Meaghan Mason, a transfer from American University, captured runner-up honors covering the 6-kilometer course at the Whitetail Golf Course in a time of 22 minutes, 17.85 seconds.
Sally Paulson finished third in a time of 22:18.77, followed by Kelly Wilson in fourth in 22:22.58. Completing the Gophers’ scoring was Julie Schwengler in sixth place (22:35.18) and Challis Larson in ninth place (22:44.76). Stephanie Price was the sixth Gopher in the top 10, placing 10th in 22:45.97.
The Gophers split their squad for two meets this weekend. Minnesota’s top runners will compete in the South Dakota State Invitational on Saturday.
Minnesota-Duluth’s Morgan Place won the race in a time of 21:31.26. Place won the Griak Women’s Maroon II Race title a week ago.
