The nation’s top collegiate men’s gymnastics teams are heading to the Twin Cites.

The University of Minnesota will host the 67th National Collegiate Men’s Gymnastics Championships April 16-18, 2009. The championships will be held at the Sports Pavilion on the University of Minnesota campus, beginning with two team qualifying sessions on Thursday, April 16. The team and all-around finals will take place on Friday, April 17, followed by the individual event finals on April 18.
Minnesota head coach Mike Burns, who is heading into his fifth season at the helm of the Minnesota men’s gymnastics program, said he was thrilled that Gophers will have the honor of hosting the championship in the team’s home gym.
“I can't tell you how excited we are about hosting the National Collegiate Men’s Gymnastics Championships here on our campus in our own facility,” said Burns. “Our administration is second to none in hosting championships and we are expecting to host one of the best championships ever.
“To have our guys compete in their home facility in front of an enthusiastic Gopher gymnastics crowd is a huge advantage and we are looking forward to an exciting competition. We are training hard and our guys are focused on performing at a high level in an effort to have our most successful championships ever.”
Both all-session and single-session ticket packages are on sale now through the University of Minnesota Athletics Department and may be purchased in person at the ticket office in Mariucci Arena, over the phone by calling 612-624-8080 or 800-UGOPHER, or online at http://www.gophersports.com/.
All-session adult tickets, which include four competition sessions, are priced at $35, with all-session student tickets available for $25. Single-session tickets are priced at $15 for adults and $8 for students. Special single-session packages for groups of 15 or more are also available and are priced at $5 per ticket.
