Minnesota vs. North Dakota Post Game Quotes

North Dakota Head Coach Dave Hakstol
“It was a hard fought game and there is a lot of emotion. Not just with penalties, there was a lot of emotion for 60 minutes of that hockey game. You have an awful lot on the line for both teams.”
“Losing Duncan wouldn’t be part of the game plan if you drew it up that way. It was the right call and we just had to adjust from there. Plays and calls like that happen, injuries happen, all sorts of things like that happen. You have to adjust through the course of the game.”
“The game could have gone either way and it was fitting that it was a tie. I don’t know if it was fitting that it was a one to one tie, but it was definitely fitting that it was a tied hockey game.”
“I don’t think the officials lost control of the game. You have 20 guys on each side playing hard. You get emotions running high and 40 guys on the ice, but you don’t expect to see that happen. I don’t know if a lot will come from that.”
Minnesota goalie Alex Kangaas
“It was a battle. You could see that at the end there, things got a little out of control. It’s a rivalry and a big game with both teams wanting it. It just got a little heated there at the end, it was kind fun.”
“It was everything we expected and a hard fought series. We each had some chances and it could go both ways. To come in trying to get four points this weekend and only getting one is a little disappointing. A bounce or two here and things could be a little different.”
“(Lamoureux) played another great series, he’s one of the best goalies in the nation. We knew going in we’d have to put some rubber on him. They’re ranked number three in the nation for a reason and it’s not just their offense. We battled 60 minutes both games and that’s what we’re going to have to do down the stretch here.”
Minnesota Head Coach Don Lucia
“It was a hard fought series. Goaltenders were good tonight, penalty killing was good. I think Alex (Kangaas) really gave us a chance to win tonight. The guys battled really hard all night long. We’d like to get two points but we’ll be happy with the point. Especially the way we lost last night, to be able to come back and respond the way we did showed me a lot.”
“Our defense has been a positive. Alex has been playing great since we let him run with it. I just hope we get a little more lucky on some of our chances and the puck starts to bounce our way again.”
“It’s just unfortunate that when the game could have ended you get a cross check in the back that escalated towards the end. Blake lost his cool a little and the end of the game and gave them a power play. You never want to see your best player in the box for 12 minutes of the game.”
