Minnesota Baseball to Host Coaches Clinic on Feb. 16

The University of Minnesota baseball team will hold a coaches clinic at the Gibson-Nagurski football practice facility on Saturday, Feb. 16 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Registration for the event will last from 8 to 8:50 a.m., followed by an introduction by Minnesota Head Coach John Anderson from 8:50 to 9 a.m. Minnesota Pitching Coach Todd Oakes will start with a session on “Developing the Throwing Arm” from 9 to 9:40 a.m. That will be followed by Minnesota Assistant Coach Lee Swenson’s session on “Catching Absolutes” which will run from 9:45 to 10:25 a.m.
Minnesota Assistant Head Coach Rob Fornasiere will follow with a session on “Infield Lead-up drills & Groundball Techniques” from 10:30 to 11 a.m. That will be followed by a session on “1st and 3rd Defense/Offense” from 10:30 to 11:10 a.m. by Anderson.
Lunch will go from 12 to 12:45 p.m., followed by Minnesota Coach Todd Oakes’ session on “Taking Care of the Arm” from 12:45 p.m. to 1:25 p.m. Anderson will follow with a session on “Simple Hitting Drills” from 1:30 to 2:10 p.m. and Fornasiere will close out the clinic with a session on “Baserunning Skills at 2nd” from 2:10 to 2:30 p.m.
Current Golden Gopher baseball players will be on hand to demonstrate the fundamentals that will be shown during the clinic.
The cost for the Coaches Clinic will be $40.00 per person including a box lunch with pre-registration until Feb. 8. If you would like a parking pass, the cost is $5. Parking passes will be mailed prior to Feb. 11. It will be $35.00 without a box lunch at the door.
