Gopher sophomore diver Jacqueline Schroeder (Edina, Minn.) finished 11th on the 3-meter springboard this afternoon on the second day of competition at the NCAA Zone C Championships in Columbus, Ohio. The top four finishers are guaranteed an automatic berth in the NCAA Championships next week in Columbus.

Schroeder got off to a great start, finishing sixth after the prelims with a score of 279.85. She slipped slightly to 260.00 in the finals for a 12-dive total of 539.85. In the prelims, she garnered a 56.00 on her fifth of six dives to move up in the standings. It was her toughest dive, a reverse 2 1/2 somersault tuck. After a slow start in the finals, she finished with a flurry, scoring mostly six and sevens in her last two dives that earned her scores of 50.40 and 51.60.

"What a great performance by Jaq," head diving coach Jason Baumann said. "Her best event is the tower so to have a strong 3-meter showing like this is great. It will help her confidence and set her up for a great day tomorrow."

Schroeder placed 19th on the 1-meter yesterday. She was a finalist on the platform at the Big Ten Championships three weeks ago.
