Minnesota Postgame Quotes
Head Coach Don Lucia
On the victory:
“This team never ceases to amaze me. It starts with the goaltending. He’s been brilliant and we’re just finding ways to win.”
On the game itself:
“We talked coming into the tournament about the great goalies and expected low-scoring games. I think Mike’s first goal was the big one. They score a power play goal and he comes back a minute later. We kind of played the game we needed to play and we got the luck bounce.”
On the season:
“I’m really proud of our guys. We felt as coaches all year this team was close but couldn’t get over the hump. It’s a real credit to our leaders and seniors.”
Goaltender Alex Kangas
On the game:
“I feel good. This was a great team effort and we came out and played 60 minutes and then some. We came out on fire and ended the game on fire.”
On the overtime games:
“It seems like every time we play it’s overtime. This team was been through a lot this year, but I really feel like we’re playing our best hockey of the year right now. We’re playing with a lot of heart. We’re getting some bounces and that’s good too.”
Forward Mike Hoeffel:
On the winning goal:
“I was just going the net and tried putting it in there to see if it would go in or if Jay (Barriball) could tip it. I don’t know how, but it deflected into the net.”
On the season:
“It’s been a team thing. We’ve played as a team and different nights it’s different guys and it’s led to our success...Last weekend was a confidence builder. Now we go into any overtime with the confidence we can win it.”
