The Minnesota men’s gymnastics team held its first full practice in the Golden State Tuesday as the Gophers continued preparations for the 2008 National Collegiate Men’s Gymnastics Championships at Stanford University.
“Today is our hard training day here at the NCAA’s,” said head coach Mike Burns. “Stanford, the host, has done a nice job in preparation for this meet and we are really looking forward to a great day of training today as well as getting used to the equipment and the meet venue. The guys are looking relaxed and feeling good about a great week ahead at the NCAA Championships.”
Minnesota will battle Big Ten rivals No. 5 Illinois and No. 9 Iowa as well as No. 1 Stanford, No. 4 California and No. 13 Temple in the evening session qualifier on Thursday night at Maples Pavilion.
The top three teams will advance to compete against the top three teams in the afternoon qualifying session in the team finals on Friday, April 18, at 9 p.m. (CDT).
