Sophomore Aaron Studt marked a career-best throw of 62 feet, 7 1/2 inches in winning the event at the Tommie Twilight Meet in St. Paul on Friday. The throw betters Studt’s season best by over five feet and improves his NCAA Midwest Region qualifying mark. The distance is also the third-longest effort in school history.

Two other Golden Gophers captured event titles, Seijen Takamura in the 5,000-meter run and David Gierut in the pole vault. Takamura crossed the finish line in a time of 14 minutes, 46.70 seconds. Gierut cleared a height of 16-1.

Minnesota will also have athletes compete at the Carleton Relays in Northfield, Minn., on Saturday.
