2009 Season:
Indoor: All-America • placed second in the NCAA meet in the shot put with a career-best throw of 63-6 1/4 • Big Ten champion in the shot put (62-11 1/4) • named the Big Ten Field Event Athlete of the Championships • All-Big Ten First Team • added fourth-place finish (64-10 1/2) in the weight at the Big Ten meet • landed his career-best throw in the weight at the Snowshoe Open (66-11 1/2). Indoor: Placed fifth in the weight (65-4 3/4) and sixth in the shot put (57-9 1/2) at the Big Ten Championships • won four meet titles in the shot put, two in the weight. Outdoor: Made his NCAA Championships debut in the shot put, but fouled each of three throws in prelims • placed sixth in the shot put (57-8 1/2) at the NCAA Midwest Region Championships but missed the final due to an elbow injury • forced to withdraw from the hammer competition • placed eighth in the shot put at the Big Ten Championships (56-10) • won the Drake Relays shot put crown (60-8) • landed career-best throw of 62-7 1/2 to win Tommie Twilight title • notched his best hammer toss in the season[apos]s first meet (189-4) at the Clemson Relays • two-time Big Ten Field Event Athlete of the Week • Academic All-Big Ten • earned second varsity letter.

2007 Season
Indoor: Competed in seven meets in the shot put and weight throw • marked a throw of 58-8 1/2 in the shot put at the Big Ten Championships, placing him third • won the Snowshoe Open in the shot put with a mark of 59-3, placing him ninth in school history • also won the shot put at the Nebraska Adidias Classic and the UW-Stout Bowlus Open • finished eighth in the weight throw at the Big Ten Championships (59-11 3/4), earning him sixth place in Minnesota[apos]s record books. Outdoor: Competed in ten meets in the shot put and discus • named Big Ten Athlete of the Week on March 20 • threw a discus of 163-3 at the Big Ten Championships to place fifth • also finished ninth at the NCAA Midwest Regionals in the shot put (54-8) • competed in the shot put at the Big Tens • won the Bobby Lane Arlington Invitational with a throw of 58-0 1/4 in the shot put • threw a season best in the shot put with a mark of 58-11 1/4, placing him eighth in Minnesota history • earned his first varsity letter.

A 2006 graduate of Ripon High School • high school coach was Jayson Duffy • state champion in the discus and shot put • helped team to win the 2006 track and field state championship • named the 2006 Gatorade Wisconsin Track Athlete of the Year • All-American in the shot put and discus • two-time all-conference selection, earning all-state honors as a senior • marked 65-4 1/2 in the shot put in 2006 for the best nationwide prep indoor throw • holds school records in the shot put and discus • four-time conference champion • lettered four times in track and field • lettered twice in football as an all-state defensive end • football team won state championship in 2005.
