University of Minnesota breaststroker Jillian Tyler was recently highlighted in the St. Paul Pioneer Press. In her first year with the Golden Gopher women's swimming and diving team, Tyler set the school record in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke events as well as helping the 200 and 400 medley relays to school records. As a freshman, Tyler won the 100 and 200 breaststroke and the 400 medley relay at the Big Ten Championships last February. She followed with a NCAA runner-up finish in the 100 breaststroke at the NCAA Championships in March. As a member of the Canadian swim team, Tyler will make her Olympic debut in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China. Tyler qualified in the 100-meter breaststroke and will begin her Olympic career on August 10th.
