Gopher Divers Advance to Finals at National Diving Championships

University of Minnesota divers Jacqueline Schroeder, Cole Young and Andrew Brown all advanced to their respective finals at the 2008 Kaiser Permanente National Diving Championships in Pasadena, Calif. The three finished in the top six of the synchronized events, advancing to Saturday's finals competition.
Jacqueline Schroeder paired with Florida State's Aleia Monden as the two finished second in the prelim/quarterfinal of the synchronized women's platform event. Michelle Cabassol and Kaylea Arnett finished first with a score of 255.72, while Schroeder and Monden placed second with a score of 241.41. Indiana divers Amy Korthauer and Cassandra Cardinell finished third with a score of 216.24.
Young and Brown competed in two events in the 3-meter and platform synchronized heights. In 3-meter action, the duo held a score of 324.18. Matthew Cooper and Harrison Jones held the top score of 358.71, while Landon Marzullo and Taylor Roberts were second with a score of 336.84. In the platform competition, Young and Brown finished second overall with a score of 328.50. Marzullo and David Legler finished first with a score of 342.00.
Schroeder will compete in the 3-meter and the platform events, while Brown and Young will both compete in the 1-meter, 3-meter and platform events throughout the course of the championships.
