Gopher senior Victor Alstrom shot a 2-under par 34 on the back nine to give himself a 71 (-1) on the day, leading all Minnesota team golfers after two rounds of the Gopher Invitational. Junior Ben Pisani shot a second consecutive 73 on Saturday while Andy Paulson, Derek Chang and Yu Katayama contributed second-round scores of 75, 76 and 78, respectively. The Gophers are in ninth place heading into Sunday’s final round.

Playing as an unattached individual, senior Patrick Datz posted the best score of any Minnesota golfer with a 3-under par 69 on the day, leaving him in fifth place in the tournament after starting the day in 14th. Datz will head into the final day of action at 2-under par, four shots behind the leader.

LSU's John Peterson has taken the individual lead at 6-under par after carding a 2-under par round of 70, putting him two strokes ahead of the first round leader Charlie Holland of Texas, who shot 71 on Saturday. As a team, the Tigers hold the lead thanks to a second-day round of 3-under par after a rainy day challenged everyone on the course. The Longhorns led after day one but the weather took a toll as they shot a combined score of 7-over par on the day and are in second place at 1-over par.

Led by Cole Peevler's score of 5-under par 67, the Iowa Hawkeyes made a huge leap in the standings, vaulting up to fourth after posting a team score of 7-under for the afternoon. Pepperdine currently sits between Texas and Iowa with a 3-over par score of 579.

Sunday's tee times for the final round of the Gopher Invitational are set for 8:00 a.m.
