Lucia to Miss Dodge Holiday Classic Opener

University of Minnesota men’s hockey coach Don Lucia will miss Friday’s Dodge Holiday Classic opener against Brown due to illness. Lucia hopes to return to the team for Saturday night’s game.
Minnesota takes on Brown at Mariucci Arena and it will mark the first time in Lucia’s 22-year head coaching career that he has missed a game. Assistant coach John Hill has been named interim head coach for Friday’s game.
Lucia ranks fifth among active Division I coaches in career victories with a 526-271-72 record. The Gophers are 8-3-5 this season and ranked fourth in the country.
Minnesota Director of Athletics Joel Maturi will address the media in the Mariucci Arena press box during the first intermission of Friday’s game.
