Young Leads Divers Against Wyoming And South Dakota State

Senior Cole Young led the Minnesota divers this evening on the second day of competition with Wyoming and South Dakota State at University Aquatic Center. Young won the three-meter men's title after winning the platform competition on Thursday. On the women's side, Taylor Enerson led the Gophers with a third place finish on the three-meter board.
Young tallied a score of 361.55 for safe victory over Wyoming's Tyler Miller (334.95). Wyoming's Mark Murdock was third (305.95) and Wyoming's Kyle Bogner was fourth (294.85). Freshman Alex Stern scored a 251.65 to finish fifth and junior Tyler Jepsen took sixth with a score of 249.85. Young carried the momentum from a solid first dive, a forward 3 1/2 somersault pike that earned him 8's and a total of 72.85.
Young also placed second on the 1-meter springboard later in the evening while Wyoming's Miller took first place.
On the women's side, Enerson led Minnesota by finishing third on the 3-meter and fifth on the 1-meter. Wyoming's Emily Huth won the 1-meter with a score of 265.85.
