Gophers Close Out Their First Day of Competition at NCAA Championships

ATLANTA, GA. – The University of Minnesota men's swimming and diving program closed out their first day of competition at the 2026 DI Men's Swimming and Diving Championships today, tallying a pair of top 30 finishes throughout the day's six events.
Jacob Johnson tallied a 27th place finish in today's 100 fly prelims, tallying a time of 45.37 for his first event of this year's championships. Johnson returns to the water on Saturday for the 200 fly.
Drew Bennett recorded a 23rd place finish in today's 1-meter springboard prelims, earning a score of 313.20 in his first event of the championships. Bennett returns to the diving well tomorrow for the 3-meter springboard event.
The third official day of competition and the second day of competition for the maroon and gold at the 2026 DI Men's Swimming and Diving Championships is set to begin tomorrow at 9:00 AM (CT) from the McAuley Aquatic Center.
