Gopher Swimming Starts off Season This Friday

Back in Season
The University of Minnesota women's swimming and diving team get ready for another season, which kicks off Friday hosting the Alumni Meet at 6 p.m. The Gophers have a week off and then hold an intrasquad scrimmage (Oct. 16) before heading to Wisconsin on Oct. 30 for their first dual meet.

All-American Girls
The Gophers return 17 letterwinners to the team, including 11 that were a part of the NCAA Team last March. Of the 11 returners, eight earned All-America honors in Megan Braun, Alison Eggers, Kaylee Jamison, Meagan Radecke, Ashley Steenvoorden, Jillian Tyler, Castina Wabeke and Hannah Whitehead.
The Rookie Class
The Golden Gophers add 18 freshmen to the mix this season. Coming into their first year of the program is Paige Bradley, Loren Brandon, Brianna Chu, Annalise Colton, Erin Eagan, Lauren Greenberg, Katie Grunawalt, Emma Jackson, Katie Johnson, Eleanor Prewitt-Thomas, Carolyn Salutz, Stephanie Solfelt, Haley Spencer, Abigail Staats, Madeline Takaki, Lauren Weis, Meghan Weiss and Elizabeth Weitz.
