The University of Minnesota softball team hosted their annual Fall Invitational this past weekend, and came away with three victories.
In their lone game on Saturday, Minnesota posted a 6-0 win over St. Cloud State, before posting a pair of wins on Sunday. Minnesota capped the weekend with a 10-1 victory over Iowa Lakes Community College, and a 5-3 win over Concordia University.
The Gophers batted a combined .324 in the three games, which included a .435 clip against Iowa Lakes. Malisa Barnes (Phoenix, Ariz.) led the offensive charge for the Gophers on the weekend, going 5-for-8 at the plate with two runs scored and three RBI. Dannie Skrove (Zimmerman, Minn.) also had a nice weekend with four runs scored.
The Gophers' runs came in bunches as they tabbed a pair of three-run innings against St. Cloud State, a six and a four-run inning against Iowa Lakes, and a three-run sixth inning to beat Concordia.
Golden Gopher softball will begin the 2010 season this February when they host their annual Metrodome Tournament.
