The University of Minnesota Dance Team returned from Universal Dance Association College Camp held in Milwaukee, WI with a lot of memories and a lot of hardware. Each summer, the camp is host to college dance teams from around the country including the Big Ten, Big 12, SEC and many more.
The week started off with the Home Routine Competition. Each team is invited to bring a routine to be evaluated by the staff. This year, Minnesota chose to challenge themselves with not only difficult skills, but a style that required a lot of personality. The team was fortunate enough to have a lot of family and friends make the trip to Wisconsin to see the performance. They practiced for two weeks prior to camp, and gave a spectacular performance. Their efforts gave the dance team their first victory of the season; finishing first place in Division 1A!
The team was also extremely proud to be awarded Most Collegiate in Division 1A. This is a prestigious award chosen by the staff. It is given to the team they feel represents themselves and their school well, is poised throughout the camp, and exemplifies an overall collegiate image. Minnesota was honored to take home the trophy, and cannot wait to show off those qualities as the 2009-2010 season gets underway!
After a long, hard week, the team was proud of all their accomplishments and their representation of the University of Minnesota. They learned a lot and created many new memories!
