Long Beach, Calif. - University of Minnesota soccer freshman goalkeeper Cat Parkhill was named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com All-Rookie team, announced today, Nov. 12.

Parkhill earned Honorable Mention notice to the All-Rookie team, as one of just three rookie keepers from around the nation on the team. Furthermore, the Apple Valley, Minn. native was one of only 30 total freshmen to be named to either the first, second or honorable mention teams.

Parkhill started all 20 matches in the net for the Golden Gophers in her freshman campaign, and earned all 12 wins. She played over 1800 minutes in net and tallied a 0.697 goals against average which, at the end of the regular season, ranked 37th in the nation and third in the Big Ten. She earned nine of the Gophers 10 shutouts on the season, pacing the team to a No. 39 national ranking for shutout percentage.

Her nine individual shutouts is the fourth best mark in team history while her 0.70 GAA and 14 goals allowed each rank second.

Parkhill posted a stretch of 361:20 scoreless minutes early in the season that included three consecutive shutouts, and parts of four wins. Two of the shutout wins came in the same weekend, earning her Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors, for the first weekly honor of her career.

On Sept. 11 of this past season, Parkhill made a career high 10 saves in leading the Gophers to a win on the road over Wisconsin-Milwaukee. The 10-save tally was the best in the Big Ten at that point and is still one of the best in the league on the season.

The marks the second postseason honor already for Parkhill as just yesterday she was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman team. She ended the season with 198:24 consecutive minutes without allowing a goal, a streak she will take with her into next season.

The last game for Golden Gopher Soccer was on Friday, Nov. 6, in the form of a 1-0 win over Indiana, however the season was effectively ended three days later when the Gophers were left out of the 64-team NCAA Tournament. The Golden Gophers finished the season with a 12-5-3 record and a 5-3-2 mark to finish in fourth place in the Big Ten.
