Brown Named Co-Big Ten Diver of the Week

The Big Ten Conference announced today junior diver Drew Brown split Big Ten Diver of the Week honors with Wisconsin's Michael Ross last week at the University of Wisconsin.
Brown, a native of Centennial, Colo., earns his first Big Ten Diver of the Week honors of his career. The last time a Golden Gopher won the award was Cole Young in November of 2007. Brown earns the honor in his first intercollegiate dual under the guidance of new diving head coach Wenbo Chen.
Last week against Wisconsin, Brown scored an NCAA Zone qualifying score on both the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard. Brown won the 3-meter with a score of 372.90, beating the competition by more than 25 points. He scored 310.58 on the 1-meter to finish third.
Brown was selected for the 2009 USA Diving World Selection Camp where he competed for the 10-meter platform. He also competed for Team USA at the 2007 World University Games in Bangkok, Thailand in the three-meter synchronized diving.
Minnesota heads to Iowa City, Iowa on Friday to face Iowa at 5 p.m.
