Soccer Gears Up For Season Finale

Minnesota (11-5-3, 4-3-2) vs. Indiana (10-6-2, 2-5-2)

Grand Finale
The regular season finale is upon us, and the Gophers get the pleasure of playing at home. Minnesota hosts Indiana on Friday, Nov. 6 at 7:00 p.m.in the final game of the regular season for both schools. It will also be Senior Night for the Golden Gophers, as they honor Sara Clancy and Dana Tripp.

The Records
After their win over Northwestern, Minnesota can claim an 11-5-3, record with a 4-3-2 mark in the Big Ten which puts them in fourth place. Indiana enters the game with a 10-6-2 overall record and a 2-5-2 mark in the Big Ten, after their 2-1 loss in double overtime against Purdue.

The Series
The Gophers hold a 10-7-2 edge in the all-time series with the Hoosiers, in a series that began  in the 1993 season. Last season Minnesota edged Indiana 1-0 in overtime to snap a two game losing streak to the Hoosiers. At home the Gophers boast a 7-1-1 mark which includes a perfect 3-0 home record since 2003. The last home loss to Indiana was a 3-1 setback in the 2001 one season.

Last Match-Up
It took overtime last season, when the two teams met up at the Robbie. The final stats were nearly identical, with the only difference being Lindsey Schwartz's goal in the 97th minute. Schwartz broke a scoreless tie with her sixth goal of the season, giving the Gophers their 12th win of 2008 and their second in the Big Ten.

Last Time Out
In their only game last week, the Golden Gophers worked overtime, winning in the extra session against Northwestern. On the game's final play, Kylie Kallman redirected a Katie Bethke free kick, and sent it to the back of the net for the 1-0 OT win.

Next Up
The Golden Gophers future will be in the hands of the NCAA Tournament selection committee. The selections and tournament bracket will be released during the selection show on ESPNEWS on Monday, Nov. 9 at 7:00 CT.
