REGIONAL NOTES
- Minnesota advances to the Final Four in Tampa, Fla., to face the winner of Nebraska and Texas
- Florida State's seven points in set two were the second lowest of the tournament thus far and the only single-digit score recorded outside the second round.
- Just five teams in this year's tournament have been held to single digits in a set, with four coming against Big Ten opponents (FSU vs. Minn., Niagara vs. Mich., Binghamton vs. Penn. St., Dayton vs. Illinois, Lipscomb vs. Cal).
MINNESOTA NOTES
- Minnesota advances to its third Final Four with tonight's victory over Florida State.
- Minnesota is now 30-14 all time in the NCAA Tournament.
- The Gophers improved to 12-1 all time in NCAA Tournament matches held in the Sports Pavilion and 14-2 overall at home.
- Minnesota upped its record to 7-1 in its last eight NCAA Regional matches with tonight's victory.
- Minnesota won the first set for the 24rd time in 36 matches, 25-20, and remains undefeated when winning the first set.
- The Gophers jumped out to a 2-0 lead for the 23 time in 2009 with a 25-7 win in set two and remain undefeated when wining the first two sets of a match.
- Minnesota improved to 5-0 when leading 2-1 in a match.
- FSU's seven second-set points were the fewest by a Minnesota opponent this season and the least scored by a Gopher foe since the implementation of rally scoring.
- The Gophers' attack opened on fire in each of the first two sets. Minnesota connected on 7 of its first 13 attacks without an error in set 1 and 10 of its first 15 without an error in set 2.
- Minnesota hit .609 in set two. It was just the eight time this season that the Gophers have hit better than .600in a set. The Gophers hit a season-high .773 in the third set vs. George Mason on August 31st.
- Gophers have now won seven matches in a row and 11 of their last 12 with tonight's victory.
- Tabitha Love's 21 kills tonight were are career best and the second-most by a Gopher this season behind only Brook Dieter's 24 vs. Ohio State on Oct. 9.
- Taylor Carico's seven kills were her second most of the year and her highest since collecting eight vs. Kansas State in the season opener.
- The Gophers' .331 hitting percentage was the 10th best of the season and their highest since hitting .363 at Michigan State on Nov. 21.
FLORIDA STATE NOTES
- Florida State ends its season with a record of 31-3. It is the Seminoles most wins in a season since recording the same number in 1983.
- FSU's all-time NCAA Tournament record slipped to 4-11 with the loss
- Tonight's loss snapped a 19-match winning streak for the Seminoles. It was FSU first loss since falling 3-2 to Georgia Tech on Oct. 2.
- Florida State lost the first set for just the eighth time in 34 matches this season. It was also just the second time this season that the Seminoles have lost after dropping the opening set (6-2).
- The Seminoles seven points in set two were nine points fewer that their previous season-low single-set point total of 16, which occurred in the opening set vs. Kentucky last night. It was also the first time FSU has been limited to single digits in set this season.
- FSU bounced back to take the third set 25-18. It was the only set the Seminoles won on the night, marking the first time FSU failed to win at least two sets in a match this season.
- Both of the Seminoles previous two losses were 3-2 setbacks vs. Florida and Georgia Tech.
