Carico Named National Player of the Week

Minnesota senior setter Taylor Carico (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) was named the CVU.com National Player of the Week. She is the first national player of the week for the Golden Gophers since Lauren Gibbemeyer claimed AVCA National Player of the Week honors in 2007.
Carico averaged 11.38 aps, 3.13 dps, 2.50 kps and hit .531. She was also named to the Minneapolis Region All-Tournament team. In the Regional Semifinal against Colorado State, Carico had a triple as she tied a career-best 13 kills, hit .647, had 47 assists and 12 digs. In Minnesota's Regional Final match against Florida State, she had seven kills, 44 assists and 13 digs.
She enters the week averaging 12.67 aps, 2.93 dps, 1.80 dps and 0.87 blps. For the season, Carico is averaging 10.70 aps, 2.51 dps, 1.05 kps and 0.71 blps.
Carico and her sister Lane each have won the CVU.com National Player of the honors this year.
