Brown Leads Gophers At Zone C Meet

Sophomore Drew Brown led Minnesota's men's and women's diving team at the NCAA Zone C Championships this afternoon at University Aquatic Center. Brown finished 10th on the men's three-meter while Cole Young placed 12th. The three-day NCAA Championships qualifying competition concludes tomorrow with the 10-meter platform events.
Brown tallied a two-list score (12 dives) of 693.10 to place 10th overall, moving up two spots from his prelims standing. Brown scored a 321.80 to advance to the finals and followed with a 371.30 in the finals. His top dive came on a reverse 2 1/2 somersault pike on his second list that earned him mostly 8s and a total of 72.00. Brown placed 10th on the 1-meter yesterday as well.
Young moved up one spot from the prelims to finish 12th overall with a score of 678.90. He improved from 321.55 in the prelims to 357.20 in the finals. Young took 14th on the 1-meter yesterday as well. Tyler Jepsen scored a 217.95 in the prelims to finish 30th in the prelims but did not advance to the finals.
Ohio State's Sean Moore took first and the automatic bid to the NCAA Championships with a score of 867.35 while Purdue's David Boudia was second with a score of 834.45.
On the women's side, Taylor Enerson placed 31st with a tally of 203.05. She posted a consistent list, finishing with a strong back 1 1/2 somersault with 1/2 twist that scored 6s for a total of 34.65.
