Kobayashi Set to Compete in Tonight's A Final

Yuen Kobayashi will compete in tonight's 500 free final, in the first day of the 2009 NCAA Championships in College Station, Texas. During the prelims, Kobayashi set a career-best time of 4:38.91 to hold the eighth-overall place during today's prelims. Along with Kobayashi's A Final, Minnesota will compete in the 200 free relay B Final, the 200 IM B Final (Jenny Shaughnessy) and the 400 medley relay B Final.
The Gophers' 200 free relay of Kaylee Jamison, Meredith McCarthy, Meagan Radecke and Stacy Busack finished 12th overall in a time of 1:29.17. The Gophers will compete again tonight to lead off the first night of the championships. Jenny Shaughnessy touched the wall in a time of 1:57.22, which came close to her career-best of 1:57.18 she set during the Big Ten Championships. She finished 15th in the prelims and will compete in the consolation finals tonight. Minnesota's 400 medley relay ended the prelims 14th overall and will also compete in the consolation finals. The foursome of Hannah Whitehead, Jillian Tyler, Megan Braun and Busack combined for a time of 3:34.32.
