Goal-By-Goal Description March 27, 2009
Miami University vs. Denver University
Miami 1, Denver 0 (7:28 in the first period)
Trent Vogelhuber started the play when he brought the puck from the Miami blueline and brought it into the Denver zone. The play was brought back out of the zone and Justin Mercier picked up the puck. Mercier brought the puck through center ice and into the DU zone and placed the puck on the stick side of Denver goalie Marc Cheverie in the upper right corner.
Miami 2, Denver 0 (18:04 in the first period)
Tommy Wingels started the play and found Kevin Roeder, who brought the puck through the right circle and behind the goal line, along the back board. Roeder centered the puck to Alden Hirschfeld, who one-timed the puck at the bottom of the right circle as he placed it over Cheverie’s left shoulder (glove side) for his fourth goal of the year.
Miami 3, Denver 0 (5:36 in the second period)
Tommy Wingels started the play as he threw the puck from the right board as Carter Camper tipped the puck in front of the net. Cheverie made a right leg save, but could not contain the rebound attempt as Bill Loupee used his forehand at the left side of the goalmouth to score his second goal of the season.
Miami 3, Denver 1 (17:29 in the second period)
On the power-play, Tyler Bozak started the play along the left board and passed it to Patrick Wiercioch, who was at the left point. He fired in a shot, which was tipped by Joe Colborne in front of the net for his 10th goal of the season.
Miami 4, Denver 1 (19:27 in the second period)
Vincent LoVerde started the play as he fired the puck off the glass, while in the Denver zone. The puck was picked up by Gary Steffes, who brought the puck out of the zone and connected with Andy Miele on a cross-ice pass near the blue line. Miele attempted a shot, but it went high off the glass. The DU defensemen and goalie thought it had deflected off the into the corner, but the puck bounced back near the left side of the goal and Miele scored on his own rebound attempt for his 15th goal of the season.
Miami 4, Denver 2 (15:12 in the third period)
On a five-on-three power-play (goalie was pulled), Denver scored at 15:12 in the third. Rhett Rakhshani started the play, passing the puck to Patrick Wiercioch at the high slot. Wiercioch found Tyler Bozak at the goal line and he turned and fired a shot between Miami goalie Cody Reichard and the left post as it slid across to the far corner.
