         This was the first meeting ever between Minn.-Duluth and Miami.

         Miami is making its seventh all-time appearance in the NCAA Tournament, with a 4-6 all-time NCAA record. The RedHawks are making their first Frozen Four appearance. Miami’s previous NCAA appearances occurred in 1993, 1997, 2004, 2006, 2007 and 2008. This marks the fourth season in a row the RedHawks have earned a NCAA bid. Miami advanced to the regional final its last three appearances (2007, 2008, 2009).

         Minn.-Duluth made its sixth all-time appearance in the NCAA Tournament, with a 9-8 all-time NCAA record. Minn.-Duluth’s previous NCAA appearances occurred in 1983, 1984, 1985, 1993 and 2004.

         Miami is 2-2 all-time against the WCHA in NCAA Tournament games.

         Minn.-Duluth is 1-3 all-time against the CCHA in NCAA Tournament games.

         Minn.-Duluth had its six-game postseason winning streak snapped.

         Minn.-Duluth is 6-2 this season in neutral-site games and 12-7-3 on Saturdays.

         Miami is 2-2 this season in neutral-site games and 13-4-2 on Saturdays.

         Miami entered the game third in the nation on the penalty kill at 89.5 percent (197/220 success).

         A combined seven shots on goal in the first period is the second fewest in an NCAA tournament game (6 -- Harvard (6) vs. Northern Mich. (0), March 26, 1993).

         Miami’s one shot on goal in the first period ties for the third-fewest shots on goal in a single period in NCAA tournament history.

         Miami’s 19 shots on goal recorded the second-lowest output of the season (18 at Michigan, Jan. 11, 2009)

         Minn.-Duluth is 7-6-5 this season when tied after the first period, while Miami is 7-1-1 this season when tied after the first period.

         Minn.-Duluth was held scoreless during the first two periods for the first time in its last 14 games this season. The last time the Bulldogs were held scoreless in the first two periods was Jan 31, 2009 against Wisconsin.

         Miami senior left wing Justin Mercier scored his 13th and 14th goals of the season, including his first shorthanded goal and fifth power-play goal of the season. It was Mercier’s second multiple-goal and eighth multiple-point game of the season.

         Miami is 21-0-1 when leading after two periods, while Minn.-Duluth is 3-9-1 when trailing after two periods.

         Miami is 2-4-4 when being outshot, while Minn.-Duluth is 14-9-5 when outshooting opponents.

         The last time the WCHA didn’t have a team in the Frozen Four was in 1999.

         Minn.-Duluth center MacGregor Sharp scored his 26th goal of the season, leading the team. The goal continued his 11-game consecutive point streak.
