Pettersen Receives Big Ten Weekly Honor

Redshirt freshman AJ Pettersen (Minnetonka, Minn.) was named co-Big Ten Player of the Week along with Indiana's AJ Dickerson on Monday, Apr. 6.
Pettersen batted .533 with eight runs, six RBI, five walks and a .650 on-base percentage in four games last week. He was also 6-for-11 (.545) with six runs and five RBI in a series that saw the Golden Gophers win two of three over Ohio State.
In the first game of the Ohio State series, Pettersen reached base four times, and was 3-for-3 with two runs, a triple, two RBI and a pair of stellar defensive plays to help lead Minnesot to a 7-5 victory. In the series finale, Pettersen reached base four times, was 3-for-5, tied a career-high four runs and had a career-best three RBI in a 16-3 win over the Buckeyes.
Pettersen is currently second on the team with a .389 batting average, tied for first in runs (28) and has a team-best .472 on-base percentage. His on-base percentage is currently fourth in the Big Ten. In conference play, Pettersen is first in batting average at .526 and is second in on-base percentage at .625.
Minnesota dropped out of the Baseball America Top 25 this week, but moved into No. 30 in the Collegiate Baseball Top 30 poll.
The Golden Gophers will be back in action on Tuesday, Apr. 7 at 6:35 p.m. when they travel to Missouri. Minnesota will also face the Tigers on Wednesday, Apr. 8 at 2:05 p.m. Both games can be heard on gophersports.com and Wednesday's game will be on KLBB (1220 AM).
